OK, for anyone who has reached this page, I guess you want to know a little more about me.

I’m an entrepreneur with nearly two decades in the technology arena.  Because of the nature  of our technologies and therefore the work that we do, we’ve spent alot of time in the law enforcement and security areas (national and homeland).  I was a student of history and current events, and a practitioner in technology long before the morning of September 11, 2001.  I didn’t “just discover” issues relating to National Security or counterterrorism that morning, nor did I begin my commentary and analysis then.  But trying to understand the many challenges confronting the U.S. after those attacks made analysis of issues and policy work my passion and my future.  I’ve also expanded my technology interests into many of the policy issues relating to our responses to terrorism.  At the same time, technology and its application is where I focus most of my attention.  I’ve also done quite a bit of public speaking on the subjects I write about.

This blog is a blog about Counterterrorism.  Like some who write on these subjects, I also have business and lifetime experience in areas that are impacted by terrorism.  Therefore, posts will concentrate mostly on observations and analysis of situations that are related to Homeland and National Security.  Often, there will be posts on technologies and technological developments that either currently, or could in the future, have an impact on these areas.

To answer the critics, “no, I never served in the military” and “no, I never actually worked for a government agency” and finally, “no, I am not now, nor have I ever been what some would call a “spook.” But to all of the above, most of my friends and close associates have done it. And my role is that of policy and technical advisor. Thus, my ability and credibility in commenting on current events and issues relating to the Global War on Terrorism.

Finally, from where I sit, I can also recognize someone who is this position at least as well as anyone else.  So while I cannot keep people from reading this blog, I do not have to “suffer fools lightly.”  It is, and will continue to be, an open space for expression of ideas and opinions.  I just will not countenance assholes and people who have their heads planted so far up their asses that they need flashlights to get out.

Sometimes, when time is short, I’m tired, or simply because my strange sense of humor pushes me in that direction, there will be posts that have nothing to do with counterterrorism or security.  I write it anonymously because not doing so could compromise my “day job,” so it’s sort of like a don’t ask, don’t tell.

Been friends with Moon since right after September 11th.

Now a “Damn Yankee” and damn happy about it.
